PrairieFire BioFuels (Silver Sponsor)
Once again Madison sets a national example in the birth of a member-owned cooperative to expand the use of vegetable oil based diesel fuels.
PrairieFire BioFuels Cooperative is changing the way people in the Midwest think about fuel sources. The common image of oil rigs and refineries is giving way to fields of soybeans and canola flowers. Agricultural products shorten the trip that solar energy takes from the soil to the tank. Farmers benefit with stronger markets for biodiesel producing crops. Emissions are significantly decreased lowering the likelihood of asthma and alleviating environmental effects of global climate change. Most importantly, vegetable oil fuels reduce our national dependence on foreign oil.
The American Council On Renewable Energy
The American Council On Renewable Energy, a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization in Washington, D.C., is focused on accelerating the adoption of renewable energy technologies into the mainstream of American society through work in convening, information publishing and communications.
With a focus on trade, finance and policy, ACORE promotes all renewable energy options for the production of electricity, hydrogen, fuels and end-use energy including: solar, geothermal, hydro and ocean energy, wind power, wast energy and fuels, biomass, and biofuels.
A special Thank You to everyone who donated and/or taken us into thier homes along the way.

Prairie Fire BioFuels Press Release 08/28/07
Breaking News
PFBF is proud to announce an exciting develpoment in the SVO world. On September 4th PFBF will begin installation of an Elsbett system in the following large commercial vehicles: Mack E427, Sterling, Ford L8000, and a Case IH tractor. Installations will be off site in Barron County and Trempealeau County.
The Mack and Case IH will be showcased at an open house on September 8th at Indianhead Farms in Barron County, Please contact Taavi McMahon (Co-President of the Board of PFBF) at (608) 345-0618 for more information. Bob Schauf of Indianhead Farms is pressing his own vegetable oil and is excited about using Elsbett's high-tech SVO technology.
The Sterling will be the first brand new commercial vehicle converted by PFBF and is owned by John Feyen of Arcade Pumping in Ettrick, Wisconsin. John is a co-op member and co-owner of Coulee Region Bio-Fuels. Coulee Region BioFuels (CRBF) will install an Elsbett system in thier Ford L8000 pumper truck. CRBF is proud to announce that they recently installed Wisconsin's first retail vegetable oil pump in Blair, Wisconsin, and also provide bulk oil for stationary use such as furnaces and boilers for home heating. For more information about Coulee Region Bio-Fuels and its partners please call (608) 345-4662. CRBF will be showcasing it's Truck at a date to be determined, please stay tuned for details.
These installations mark a signicant development in the growth of our Co-op's installation services. Up to now PFBF has performed all of it's conversion work in Madison and has been limited in its develpoment of the commercial market because of space considerations in the Co-op Shop located at 1894 E. Washington Avenue. The city of Madison Ford F450 Rooter Truck was the largest vehicle the Co-op had worked on at the Shop and its muffler had to be temporarily shortened to make the fit. These off-site conversions will be done in the work shops of the member-customers by PFBF's highly skilled mechanic/SVO system installer Luke Matthews.
The Co-op is excited about working on commercial vehicles and farm machinery because together they represent the vast majority of diesel fuel consumption for on road applications. Until recently the supply of SVO was a major hurdle for consumers of SVO technology, the fueling infrastrucure simply didn't exist. Choices were limited to dumpster diving and home filtration or retail purchasing at generally very high prices. Coulee Region Bio-Fuels has started to develop the necessary infrastructure and provides high-quality de-watered and filtered vegetable oil in retail and wholesale quantities. CRBF and PFBF are proud to be leaders in the develpoment of this home-grown alternative fuel source and encourage all of us to continue to support alternative energy sources.

ABA/ACORE Teleconference Series: Washington Update: Status and Outlook of Pending Renewable Energy Legislation
Significant legislative and administrative departmental and agency advances are on the horizon. Both the Senate and the House have passed sweeping energy bills. A national renewable portfolio standard is an integral part of the House bill. Stricter CAFÉ (corporate average fuel economy) standards and Renewable Fuel Standards (RFS) for many classes of automobiles are an integral part of the discussion in both the House and Senate. Significant tax incentives are included in the House Bill, while the Senate postponed its consideration of renewable tax benefits. The contours of the final legislation will be resolved in conference committee during the fall.
Following an extensive series of hearings on climate change, both Houses of Congress have committed to working on a national greenhouse gas program in the fall. Several bills addressing the issue have been introduced in both Houses. The White House has extended an invitation to world leaders for a meeting in September to discuss a global solution to climate change. This ABA/ACORE program kicking off the annual teleconference series for 2007-08 will feature leading representatives from the Senate, the House of Representatives and the Executive branch who will provide their perspectives on current developments concerning renewable energy and climate change legislation and where the U.S. is headed later this year.
Learn about:
- Design and prospects for a national renewable energy portfolio standard (RPS)
- Design and prospects for increased CAFÉ standards and interplay with RFS
- Tax incentives for renewables in pending legislation
- Measures to promote biofuels in pending legislation
- R&D funding for renewables in pending legislation
- Architecture of the greenhouse gas legislative solutions and key issues driving the debate
- Administration perspectives on renewables and climate change solutions in a domestic and international context.
